To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Netflix does not stop brand new content and this time, the streaming service is who is behind the adaptation of the book To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by the writer Jenny Han. The Nutcracker and the Four Realms The adaptation, starring Lana Condor -better known for playing Jubilee in X-Men: Apocalypse (2016) – tells the story of a girl who, in order to overcome the children she falls in love with, writes letters explaining how she feels about them. Unfortunately, Lara Jean (Condor) soon discovers that her letters have come to light and all the men mentioned in them are aware of her feelings, leaving her in a very vulnerable position.

The director Susan Johnson (Carrie Pilby) has an interesting premise in her hands and the official trailer shows that Condor is a charismatic actress who could make the public identify with the conflict of her character quickly. The only thing that remains to be seen is whether the film is capable of subverting the commonplaces in which young stories like this one tend to fall and if it maintains the essence of the book to also satisfy the fans of the original material.

The cast of To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before is completed by Janel Parrish (Pretty Little Liars), Anna Cathcart (Once Upon a Time), Noah Centineo (The Fosters), Israel Broussard (Happy Day of Your Death) and John Corbett (Marry is in Greek). Its release date on the platform is scheduled for August 17 in the United States.
